Interested in Blogging?
Hello Everyone!
OK, so, as many of you are probably aware, I am part of the SororiTea Sisters.
I co-founded this blog with Jennifer aka TeaEqualsBliss who hasn’t been on Steepster for a long time but she did used to be really active on both the blog and here on Steepster (she’s still currently the reigning tea note posting ‘champ’).
Anyway, in the coming months, I’m going to be involved in a very big project that is going to take me away from the tea blogging realm of things (but not away from the realm of tea) and I find that I am going to need to limit my tea blogging and may eventually cut it off completely.
I – together with Jennifer – worked very hard to make SororiTea Sisters successful and the most active tea blog on the internet and even though my path will be taking me in a new direction (well, not completely a NEW direction, but down a slight fork in the road), I do not want to see the blog fall by the wayside. It means a lot to me for it to continue to succeed.
So, I’m looking for someone (or maybe a couple of someones) who are interested in becoming SororiTea Sisters and blogging for us.
Here are the “job” expectations:
You’ll be expected to post regularly. I’m looking for someone who will be able to post at least seven posts per week (or one daily).
Of those people who are interested in the “job,” I will be reviewing your tasting notes here to make sure that your writing quality it up to snuff. I want someone who is going to be writing quality posts. I am not the smartest cookie in the jar, but obvious grammatical errors or spelling errors would not be something that we want at SororiTea Sisters. We want to appear like we know what we’re talking about and obvious errors make us lose credibility, you know?
You will need to also keep posting your tasting notes here too. That’s one of the reasons why I’m attempting to recruit right here on Steepster. The fact that I am active on Steepster (even though I’m quite behind with posting my notes) is one of the reasons why we get interest from tea companies to have their teas reviewed. This is the facebook for tea drinkers, this is our audience.
Write honestly. My reviews aren’t always nice. When I don’t like a tea, I say so. I happen to like more teas than I dislike, so most of my reviews are positive ones but there have been teas that I have a difficult time finding something positive to say and when that happens, I let my readers know.
Here are the “job” benefits:
You’ll get tea. Lots of it.
You get to drink tea and write about it.
As I mentioned, you’ll get tea, lots of it. And the tea I speak of is tea that is provided to us to write reviews. You’ll receive frequent shipments from me with teas that need reviews.
Interested?
Please PM me. If you don’t follow me, you’ll need to do that and I’ll follow you back.
Ooooooh looking forward to seeing how this shapes up :) Good luck with the hunt!
I’m curious, since both you and Jennifer appear to be located in the US would you only/ideally be looking for someone also located in the US or would you be open to ‘applicants’ from Canada or other countries?
we are open to applicants from anywhere, but please keep in mind that the international SororiTea Sisters might not get boxes as frequently only because it would mean that I need to go to the post office to ship the box. I would need to keep the shipments to once every two months, or every six weeks, rather than once a month or so.
….if you decide to take additional reviews that would be less than one daily, I’d be interested. Daily constraints of paid employment would make “daily” difficult.
We might be interested in more than one person – the additional people would be able to do less than one daily. Our goal at SororiTea Sisters is to have at least 2 reviews posted daily, and if we can get more than 1 good “Sister” then we will be more than willing for them to share the load as well.
The most important thing though is quality.
I want to thank everyone who has applied via PM over the last couple of days. I truly appreciate the responses!
Over the next few days, I’ll be going over the PMs and looking at everyone’s tasting notes and discussing the issue at length with TeaEqualsBliss. Based on the response that we’ve gotten, I think we’d be able to add more than one or two new bloggers, which will be awesome! It would help me out tremendously because I really didn’t want to see SororiTea Sisters fall by the wayside, but in a few weeks, you’ll learn what new project I’m working on and understand why it will take me from my tea reviewing responsibilities. I’d love to be able to add maybe three or even four new bloggers so that we can keep the blog going strong.
Thank you again. I’ll be letting everyone know at the end of this week who we’ve decided to add to the SororiTea Sisters line up!
Just an update!
We haven’t yet come to any decisions. We’ve had a lot of interest though and I’m thrilled about that. But I did want to update everyone on the progress.
Jennifer and I are considering everyone who has expressed an interest to us. Right now, we have things set up so that there are a total of four time slots for a review to be posted – although we don’t currently have four reviews being posted daily. Right now it’s at least 2 and sometimes 3. But ideally, we’d like to get ourselves back up to 4 per day.
To do that, the original idea was to add a couple more reviewers, but I’m thinking that it might be a better plan to assign one time slot to two reviewers and the two of them can sort of plan when they’ll review between themselves. That way they can work around each other’s schedule and reviews will still get posted.
I’ve come to realize that when April arrives, I won’t be posting reviews on SororiTea Sisters anymore. My future project wouldn’t be conducive to that plan, I’ve worked hard to build a certain integrity as a tea reviewer and I feel like I could possibly jeopardize that integrity if I tried to do both things and the new project needs to take priority.
That said, SororiTea Sisters will still be very important to me and I’ll still be a part of it behind the scenes. I’ll be more like a manager that oversees the function of the blog to make sure things run smoothly and our reviewers are getting their teas rather than reviewing the teas myself.
Anyway … I wanted to update everyone. We should come to a decision early next week. At least, I hope so!
