I grabbed a bag of this this morning and got a cup of “warm” water from one of the campus coffee shops. Needless to say, I thought it was going to steep terribly with this warm cup of water, but actually the opposite happened. For once I actually tasted the peach flavors in this. I’ve never tasted it before and it was quite good. Steeped for about 3 minutes I believe. I’m now a fan again.

Hard to really taste the peach and cucumber; even with oversteeping it still has a strong taste of green tea. Good on the go but nothing special. Black tea is hard to taste.

I tried this tea at a little coffee cart in Spokane during First Night to keep me warm. It was sooo good. My mom even commented on how good it smelled. Lots of flavors, and an interesting sweet aftertaste. However, I haven’t been able to find this tea in stores, so I haven’t been able to try it since.

Hum…glorified dirt? I dunno, just not much of a chamomile fan I guess. Didn’t really spark the interest of my taste buds.

A quick, on the go cup. Ick! This tea gets bitter very easily and lacks…taste. It might be salvageable with milk and sugar. Maybe.

It’s been quite a while since I had this tea, but I liked it quite a bit! Now I want to try again it and see if I was crazy!

We’ve had these in my office for forever, and I only recently took one out of the fridge and tried it. It is so, so so perfect. I love it so much. It tastes like the letter S.

Aw, it just does, to me! I have mild lexical-gustatory synaesthesia. This is probably the reverse of it, though…

This is a good one. Prepared like a black tea, but a tiny bit less on the steeping time. It’s too hot to totally drink, but it’s delicious smelling and the tiny tastes I have had are good.

Fruity, flowery, yummy :)

drank Passion by Tazo

I almost feel as though I wasted much of my weekend as I received two tea orders (one more should be here tomorrow) and tried nothing new. In an attempt to rectify this, here is the Tazo Passion.

I was looking for a decaf because it is so late. The description of the herbal tea sounded good, like it would be fruity. The smell of the bag is faintly fruity with a hint of cinnamon. The brewed tea is dark red, and smells strongly of citrus and hibiscus. The flavor is very tart (I brewed hot with no additives), but not unenjoyable. Unfortunately, I think the tartness from the citrus and tropical fruit juice is overpowering almost all other flavors, I hardly taste anything else. Maybe I oversteeped it? I think the tea probably needs to be brewed with some more earthy tones, maybe a vanilla, to help round out the flavor and make it more palatable.

That’s a good suggestion…I can hardly drink this tea myself, it’s so tart.

Jillian

I think it’s the dreaded hibiscus that’s likely causing the tartness. Bleh.

I first experienced Tazo Refresh, peppermint, spearmint, and tarragon, mixed with Tazo Awake, a wonderful black tea, together sweetened with natural sugar. Yum!
I have the tea bags but prefer loose leaf when I go to a favorite bookstore. The mint flavor is strong but not overwhelming. Tarragon adds a mild flavor change you can barely detect but enough you know there is more than two mints in the cup of relaxation.
I love that I can enjoy this tea anytime or mix with other teas for a flavor sensation!

Found a cool site today: http://steep.it. Tea timer that has some cool url rewriting. For example: http://steep.it/black will automatically start a steeping timer for 3 minutes. So will http://steep.it/3minutes. I used it to steep my Earl Grey today. This is 2 minutes less than usual, so we’ll have to see what difference it makes. If it is good here, I need to try this tea timer with the Gypsy Raspberry Earl Grey.

Water: ~ 8oz
Bags/Amount: 1 bag
Aroma: hint of bergamot, nice black tea smell
Taste: Little bitterness, still nice bergamot flavor

Better than the Raspberry Earl Grey earlier. It was still a little bitter, but there was more balance to it. Not as sweet as I usually like my Grey’s

drank Green Ginger by Tazo

I enjoy ginger, as long as it is not the pickled ginger you get with sushi, blegh, but fresh ginger, I enjoy very much. This smells like artificial ginger, very aromatic and sweet for no good reason. The smell is strong in the bag, for this reason I did an unreasonably fast steep (about a minute counting pouring the water into my cup). The aroma is even stronger in the brewed cup, which was what I feared. The flavor is green with a soothing burst of ginger as an aftertaste. Unfortunately, the aroma made the tea quite unenjoyable.

I got this as a Christmas gift from my partner’s cousin. I’ve used everything but the Passion bags, just because I don’t like hibiscus. The box is nice to store samples, and the other teas were decent.

buttercup81

Maybe it’s the hibiscus that I don’t like, either. I don’t know, but there is something in that Passion blend that is just nasty to me. It’s the only one in the box that I can’t drink, either.

I don’t know what it is about Tazo, but I love their black teas. I’ve tried very hard to prefer fancier loose leaf varieties, but this remains my favourite earl grey. I absolutely love the perfumed note that this has, almost a lavender flavour. It’s delicious and unexpected and perfect. My search continues for an equally tasty loose leaf earl grey, but for now I’m sticking with Tazo.

drank Tazo Chai by Tazo

This is my favourite chai of the ones that I’ve tried. I really enjoy the distinct spicy heat that the black pepper gives it, which I have yet to find in another brand. My favourite way to drink it is with lots of milk and a splash of vanilla syrup. It’s even better with foamy steamed milk. I have a cup of this almost every morning, and I love how it wakes me up with its comforting warm spiciness.

When opened, the package gave a very calming scent of each of the green and black teas. You could smell the cucumber a lot and I figured this was going to be a refreshing tea. Once brewed, it had only the flavor of the green tea. Now since I am a green tea fanatic, I really liked the flavor it gave off. However, if you are wanting to taste the cucumber or peach I would not recommend this tea for that.

drank Zen by Tazo

Green tea and Super Mario Bros, that’s what I say! Went over to a friend’s house after class and ended up playing the new multiplayer Super Mario Brothers game for the Nintendo Wii. Before we sat down to conquer Bowser and save the princess, I stole a couple of his Zen tea bags and made us each a cup.

For a bagged tea, Zen makes a decent cup… enough for me to keep coming back to it if I want a quick brew. I adore spearmint. I believe this flavor, along with a touch of lemon, save the mediocre green tea that is in this blend. I guess I really like this one because it is a flavored tea that is not all about the flavorings. The green tea is most definitely the base in which the spearmint and lemon complement it – I taste the slightly grassy green tea first, the lemon provides a bit of acidity, and the spearmint is left in the end.

Oddly after reading this I have Super Mario music running through my head.

It makes a decent cup of tea, indeed!

In celebration of today, I wrote a haiku about this tea (not real haiku mind you using moras, fake American haiku using syllables) but an attempt nonetheless:

Getting to work
Requires caffeine Green Black
Tazo Does the trick

This tea is simple and it gets the job done.
