90 Tasting Notes
I don’t know why I bought this. It’s flavored and it’s a bag tea. I must be entering another experimental phase. But that’s nothing to do with the tea. It does smell rather ‘tangy’ but I dunno if it’s actually pomegranate. It has a mildly fruity taste but again, it’s sort of nondescript. It’s not the worst flavored tea I’ve had but it’s certainly not the best, either.
Before steeping this tea smells very fruity and a little sweet. But it’s not quite overpowering. It brews up a lovely red color and loses some of the aroma but not all. It does taste fruity but not overly so. A very little of the mintyness comes out at the end. Being that I don’t usually like fruit teas, I’m surprised by how good this is.
Dry, this tea smells pretty malty. It brews up to a lovely dark amber, almost brown cup. It looses most of the maltyness and gains a wheaty smell. Which makes the smoothness of this tea kind of surprising. I was expecting something a bit more…harsh. At the back there’s just a hint of honey. All these smells and tastes come together to make a very good tea.
I love most things cherry and since someone brought a box of this into work, I figured I might as well give it a try. I was a bit hesitant as I haven’t had either bagged tea or an herbal in years. Walking down the hallway with the bag happily (or not so happily) brewing away I got a definite smell of cherries. I thought if it tastes as good as it smells I might have found the herbal I’ve been looking for. It does taste of cherry and…something else. Maybe that blackberry leaf someone else mentioned. It’s ok but it needs something. I might have to either commandeer this box or buy one of my own to experiment with.
Dry this tea smells very sweet. Overpoweringly so. It brews up to a very light colored cup and the sweet smell is virtually gone leaving something that might be rhubarb. But it doesn’t really taste like anything. Maybe this is because I used a TeaDrop and it needs a bit more attention. I’ll take it home and see if that improves it any.
This has a lovely toasty aroma. Brews up a nice amber color. I don’t think this comes close to being fruity but it is a nice medium bodied tea. If i let it sit in my mouth for a few seconds, some earthiness seems to come out. It’s a great tea for everyday drinking.
