From Zhi Tea

We take our Organic Oothu White tea and fold in just the right amount of organic rose buds for a really smooth and mild any time of day tea.

No flavorings at all with this one so the white tea base is very pronounced.

The Oothu Estate is located in the Singampatti rainforest and is one of the first organic and Fair Trade tea estates in the world.

Light, refreshing, simple.

This makes a very lovely cup of tea! Very present flavor, but nice and mild. I added a teaspoon of honey to my second cup, as the tea itself smells sweet but there isn’t much sweetness to it. It was wonderful.

The way I make loose-leaf is to put the leaves directly in the pot and let them dance. This is all well and good for the first cup, but depending on the type of tea, it isn’t for the second. It’s not normally an issue because I drink it quickly, but I didn’t this time and I’m working on my fourth cup. It’s still lovely. Slightly – very slightly – more astringent, but not really. I’m raising my rating on this a bit, and might make this a staple in my cupboard due to it’s ability to hold up to long steeping times.

This tea smells like a bouquet of roses, and tastes even better – the rose flavor is light, yet pronounced – changing as it passes over your tongue and coming out strongest on the backend. Refreshing and smooth … I want to bathe in this tea …

I visited Zhi Tea this weekend and picked up a couple of teas to try. I love the store, I just wish it was slightly closer to me.
I cold brewed this tea overnight and brought it to class with me this morning. I thought I had added too much tea, but this still tasted great with no astringency. My suspicion is that this holds up very well to being oversteeped. The flavor is very light and delicate, with just the hint of floral rose. It is not an overwhelming rose flavor, and that’s due to the fact that this tea is not actual flavored, but instead gets any rose flavor from the roses mixed in with the tea leaves. Another bonus to that is that this is quite a beautiful tea to steep up, with the roses floating around. I’m really happy with this one!
