“Sampler September! There were only green teas left in my PDX fundraiser bag, and I was in the mood for black tea this morning. Found this sampler from a long ago Yunomi order. I had a Benifuuki...” Read full tasting note
Japanese black tea, or wakocha 和紅茶, is produced primarily using tea cultivars meant for Japanese green teas. As a result, the black tea that is produced tends to be more mild in strength than black teas from other parts of the world. Japanese black teas are recommended for those tea drinkers who enjoy unsweetened, unflavored tea.
Tea may vary depending on production, and may not exactly match the photos seen here. We utilize this product to practice and experiment with blending leaves in small 1-2 kg production lots. As experimentation we strive for a basic level of consistency but do expect differences from production to production.
