Shang Chun “赏春” means “Springtime Reward”. We tirelessly blended a variety of different wild arbor and ancient arbor mao cha to create this recipe tea cake. This is the 2nd year we have produced Shang Chun, and our blending method is basically the same. This year’s version is a bit stronger in taste than last year’s due to the unique character of 2012 spring teas.
Blending teas is the classic approach to creating tea cakes and has been done by Menghai and Xiaguan tea factories for decades. Our blended cake is made from high quality wild arbor and ancient arbor material, instead of cheap plantation material which without aging is basically undrinkable.
The brewed tea is a nice balance between cha qi, mouth-feel and aroma. Cha qi is abundant and there is a force behind it. The mouth feel pleasant and stays in the mouth and throat long after drinking. The aroma is thick and floral with a sweet almost nectar like layer to it.
In total just 150 kilograms produced. Stone-Pressed in the traditional method and wrapped in durable hand-made paper.
