On first sighting, I loved the packaging of this mate. They vacuum sealed the Yerba for freshness as well as maximum amount of product. I enjoy the succinctness of the logo, as well as the font and color. Very distinct and unique, but not overwhelming or corny.
The Mate has a very sweet and almost Rosamante smell to it, but a much cleaner scent to it. The blend has a few stems, which in my opinion is perfect, and is a little finer grind than you will find with most traditional Yerba Mate’s. It reminded me of the domestic company Wyndhorse that I have done a review for before. Wyndhorse’s product is a little bit finer, and not as well rounded. In my opinion this Castiello Yerba Mate by its smell and grind is at first glance ideal Mate.
On first taste, you get a stout cup, because of its fine grind, as well as a sweet and subtle smoky Mate. The smokiness is perfect, not too smoky, but just enough bitterness to give it the traditional feel. The sweetness once again reminds me of Rosamante traditional, but with less smokiness to it.
This Mate was a very pleasant and solid drink. It had the stoutness and sediments that I enjoy, as well as the smokiness, sweetness contrast that I miss a lot of the time because of my unsmoked I drink so often. I have been in the coffee mode recently as my schedule has been so hectic, and this drink mellowed me out, while giving me the calming energy that you find from an awesome Mate.
I really appreciate Castiello Yerba Mate for sending me this Mate, and look out for the interview coming soon.
