From Wuyi Origin

Blending Dahongpao is not simply to mix different varieties together, but we select different varieties, and then complement each other according to the characteristics of the tea varieties. A good mix of Dahongpao requires skills,

Raw material: We used Rougui 肉桂, Shuixian 水仙, Jin mu dan 金牡丹 ,Meizhan 梅占, and Chun lan 春兰 ,All the materials are from our 2023 Harvest . Baking level: 3times roasted, medium roasting style About Blending: Different materials with different features all mixture together. This blended dahongpao: Zheng yan Rougui and Shuixian fix its strong body. Jin mudan 金牡丹 and Chun lan 春兰 help to enhance the aroma .Blending is a good complement of different materials.

Blending Dahongpao is not simply mixing different varieties of tea together, but we select different varieties and then match them according to the characteristics of the tea varieties. It takes skills to blend Dahongpao well.

This year, the blended raw materials were roasted at the same time, and the roasting time and temperature were the same. After roasting, the quality characteristics of each raw material are relatively stable, and then we use different proportions for each tea according to the taste, and then blend this Dahongpao.

Overall, the quality of my blended Dahongpao is relatively stable. The aroma is rich, the tea soup is very sweet, and the peach aroma is very direct. When you smell the dry tea, it has a distinct spicy aroma of the cinnamon variety, with a high balance between aroma and water.

NOW, THIS, I GET! After trying lots of different yancha to find one I might like, I have finally landed on a winner. I was starting to think there was no hope left.

This one is not a Qi Dan, so not truly a Da Hong Pao. They blended Shui Xian, Rou Gui, Jin Mu Dan, Mei Zhan, and Chun Lan to make this blend. Truly amazing that they could blend this to be so balanced and flavorful.

Mild bitterness, mild sweetness. No astringency. Very thick mouthfeel with long aftertaste. Lasts 8+ infusions. 4 g/60 mL water at 205 F.

This is a perfect fall/early winter tea IMO. I will definitely be buying more from Wuyi Origin. And this was just the free sample they sent! The price is also very reasonable at $0.46/g. At least from my limited experience thus far, WO > OWT for yancha.

Harvest: Spring, 2023, blended and re-roasted in 2024
