“Great Gift and Taste” Read full tasting note
Hello everyone, my name is Rickard, I am an author for New York Tea House Magazine.
I am a fan of Da Hong Pao. Sometimes I drink it every day because I can never get enough of the rocky taste. Knowing about so many different replications of Big Red Robe on the market I am always skeptical of the taste that tea sellers want enthusiasts like me to buy.
I will begin with the packaging. The box that this tea come in is a nice red thin silky quality which makes a great gift to sell or receive. The tea brick is sealed in a clear food quality plastic.
When prying the tea, you can brake it up like any chocolate bar or you can carefully use a tea knife to preserve the compressed tea leaves. Each portion peace can be broken up into 2 so there is plenty to drink in this small 125g tea cake.
Rocky taste. Some smoky hints. No sewer after taste(which is common in replicated da hong pao tea cakes). Dark cooked leaves, steeped at around 3 min in 190C or about 203F.
