“A final herbal tea to transition out of a stressful day. I had never drank pure sage tea before because I suspected I might be allergic to it. Being near smoldering sage sends me into sneezing...” Read full tasting note

Description

Sage Cretan Tea is made from dried leaves of Sage (Salvia officinalis), an indigenous herb of Crete.

Sage has one of the longest histories of use of any medicinal herb. In the first century C.E. Greek physician Dioscorides reported that the aqueous decoction of sage stopped bleeding of wounds and cleaned ulcers and sores and recommended sage juice in warm water for hoarseness and cough. Among other properties, Sage helps to reduce menopausal sweats, has a strong anti-hydrotic action and anti-inflammatory activity and it is an excellent remedy for flue, fever and rheumatic diseases and also for controlling or preventing secondary infection. Sage is also particularly noted for strengthening the nervous system, improving memory, and sharpening the senses.
