Made by the Liu Family in Longjuan, Anxi, Fujian province. The inspiration for this tea is Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong, a traditional and full-bodied black tea from Wuyishan, sometimes smoked with special pine wood. We expected a bracing and full bodied tea when we tasted this Tieguanyin varietal processed as curled, roasted black tea, but what we got was something smooth, sweet, and rich. Full of chocolate notes, tart hibiscus, savory sweet potato and obey, this tea seemed to us a cross between our favorite honey-roasted burdock and Laoshan Black in style.
