This special fall harvest is the very first for this brand new tea! This innovative tea is first carefully curled before being pulled straight – all by hand. The result is a flavorful brew that lasts through multiple steepings, with honey aroma and sweet notes of watercress, mandarin, and soybean – a signature of all Laoshan green teas. This tea is fed by mountain spring water, picked by hand, and cultivated sustainably using traditional chemical-free farming techniques.

This tea brews up with an amazingly pale cup for how powerful the aroma of both the wet leaf and liqueur are. I am enjoying my mug immensely even though it looks almost like it is just full of hot water.

This tea has a strong, grassy base, but there’s no bitterness at all. There’s a kind of soy milk smooth, nutty sweetness as well.

(again, I’m brewing this hybrid style in a large pot, lots of leaf and very short steep times – I’m looking forward to my more typical [and recommended] grandpa style when I get back home from the holidays)

Once again a very nice Laoshan green varietal. This autumn harvest is sweet and crisp like butter lettuce. Notes of soy, green beans, sweet corn, anise, and flowers. While I like this tea I don’t quite love it. It may be that I’m finally starting to tire of Laoshan green teas. I’ve been finding myself craving sencha and kamairicha more than other greens these days.

Butter lettuce is best lettuce. I’m feeling a move toward Japanese greens in the coming months. I may have to pick you for some recommendations soon if you wouldn’t mind.

Absolutely. I can’t say that I’ve had too many great Senchas this year but I can help you steer clear of the less than stellar ones. The most memorable one I’ve had was Yuuki-cha’s Kirishima Asatsuyu Sencha. It was super fruity and umami rich. A little different from your typical Japanese greens. Saemidori Kirishima Sencha is also good if you’re looking for a fukamashi with a deep grassy flavor. I have one en route to me from O-Cha right now. Will let you know how that one turns out.

I figured i should make a point of having at least one of my green/oolong teas on weekends since during the week, i rarely drink them. I pulled this one out as i always try to drink verdant’s green teas as close to getting them as possible. This tea has some seriously neat twisty leaves. Admittedly, i had hoped the “pine” in the tea name was because they somehow added pine needles to the tea but that was silly of course. :)

Brewed this is a beany, sweet, green tea. I should do a comparison next week maybe of the several greens i received in the tea of the month club…this one is refreshing. I am a fan of this one so far. Will have to see if additional steeps change it up any.

Haha I read this and hoped for pine needles too! I’m missing Sleeping Bear blend too much I think lol.
