Taiwan Oolong tea has long been known for its premium quality.
FuJian – the province across the Taiwan sea on the mainland China is the birth place of Oolong teas. The cultivation of Taiwan Oolong tea did not start until the mid-19th century. In many aspects the Taiwan Oolong is similar to the famous FuJian Oolong teaTie Guan Yin (Iron Buddha), but has developed its distinctive characteristics that are not matched by others, such as its strong tea leaves, smooth texture and intense refreshing after taste.
There are a few mountains in Taiwan known to produce premium quality Oolong tea, Mt Yu is one of them. The Oolong produced in various mountains have their suttlely different quality presented in aspects such as the aroma, flavor, texture and after taste. Taiwan Oolong is classically graded according the altitude of planation, the highest peaks produce the top quality teas.
The Mt Yu (Jade Mountain) Oolong tea offered here is produced from a planation over 2000m above sea level. It has a distinctive high mountain aroma and taste that is elegant and refreshing.
