Jun Shan Yin Zhen is the most well known and prestigious Chinese yellow tea. It is produced in HuNan Province Junshan area of China. It was originally produced only on Junshan Island (0.98 km2) of DongTing Lake. The unique environment and climate conditions produce a particular quality of these tea leaves not found elsewhere. The islands limited production contributed to the tea’s value, such that it was once used only by the Chinese emperors. Production has since been extended to the surrounding areas.
Being a classic yellow tea, Jun Shan Yin Zhen has a yellow tone in both dry leaves and tea brew. It has an aroma similar to some black tea to certain degree, but yet retaining the lightly sweet taste of yellow and refreshing after taste of green tea.
Similar to premium green teas, Jun Shan Yin Zhen is made of the tip buds of the tea trees.
