From the box:
“Mary Twining was a woman ahead of her time. After the death of her husband in 1762, Mary was left to cope with a family and a flourishing business. During this time, tea was heavily taxed and often smuggled and adulterated. But Mary was a purist; she led the campaign to reduce the tax and proudly claimed to have sold only 100% pure tea. This blend of her favourite black tea and precious spices she so much enjoyed celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of Mary Twining, a fine businesswoman who ran the firm single handedly for 17 years – a remarkable achievement.”
