From Treasure Green Tea Company

Amoda Tea Monthly Box – June 2015

As the name suggests, this blend was created for the holiday season. We selected it to show how versatile tea can be and hopefully get you thinking creatively about what’s sitting on your tea shelves! This is a smooth, medium bodied black tea with citrus & hints of florals. In our opinion, this tea tastes its best cold-steeped. The flavours really stand out when brewed in that way. Check out the recipe below!

Cold-steeping is simple. Take 1.5-2 tsp of season’s blend and drop it in a 2 cup mason jar either loose or in a biodegradable filter. Fill the jar with cold water, seal and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. After steeping, strain the leaves out if you didn’t use a paper filter. Sweeten with maple syrup, agave or honey. Add a slice of lemon or an orange and that’s it!

Ingredients: organic black tea, blood orange, osmanthus, bergamot

Steep It
1 tsp per 8 oz cup
95°C/203°F (just below boiling)

Drinking this tea now. I received this tea in this month’s Amoda box. This is a subscription that I can’t give up even though I’m doing the 52Teas thing now. I just love Amoda, what can I say? They do what they do better than anyone else.

Since Amoda is promoting this as an ideal iced tea blend, I decided to try this both hot and iced. So I brewed a pot and I poured myself a small cup to drink hot and I’m keeping the rest to the side to cool so that I can have it chilled.

Served hot, this is nice. While it does have a similar flavor profile to the typical holiday type blend (spiced orange) I like that this is blood orange and you can taste that little difference. The orange is a little sweeter and a little brighter here. The spices are not overwhelming the cup.

I look forward to trying it iced.
