Description

Te Ji Lishan Chun Cha 2010
(Highest Grade Traditional Spring 2010 Lishan)

This Lishan from Chen Laoshi (Chen Huan Tang is my teacher or “Laoshi” in Mandarin) is without question one of the finest teas we ever have carried. The spring harvest throughout Taiwan was exceptionally good this year and a top tea like this one truly shines. Laoshi’s teas are very traditional with a ripe, full leaf that is well oxidized and perfectly roasted: old school and proudly so. The tea is so well balanced that no single component dominates yet it is so complex that the senses are challenged at every turn. Floral notes mix with cinnamon; rich creaminess combines with wonderful acid structure. This tea is the epitome of harmony between ku (bitter) and gan (sweet.)
