From The Virginia Tea Company

This organic tea is delicately flavored with bergamot in order to give it that rich, dark taste that is easily appreciated by all those with strong taste buds. Earl Grey pairs amazingly with ice in the summer.

Ingredients: Fair Trade, Organic Black Tea, Bergamot Flavor

Brewing Instructions: Bring fresh water to a boil. Then pour over tea. Steep 2-3 minutes. For iced tea, pour over two servings, cool and pour ice.

This tea is 97% Fair Trade and 97% Organic!

A gift from Nichole/CuppaGeek a long, long time ago.

Side note – I’m sad to see that Nichole and so many others who were here when I started my tea journey haven’t stopped by in a while – Evol Ving Ness, Super Starling!, Anlina, KittyLovesTea, and so many others. Where are you?? I went on my own unplanned Steepster sabbatical not too long ago so I get it, but I do miss them.

Anyway, on to the tea. This came to me in a tea bag with a cute little sticker on top that read Hello, my name is Earl Grey. I don’t think this tea is sold in tea bags, rather tea bags can be purchased along with the tea, so Nichole or someone else must have packaged it up.

To be honest, this doesn’t taste at all like an Earl Grey. I don’t taste or smell any bergamot. I’m certain this is due to its age, though there aren’t any other reviews on Steepster so I’m not sure how it might have been when fresh. That’s not to say it’s a bad tea; it’s not. It has quite a bit of flavor and good flavor at that. Just no bergamot. I had planned to try a resteep, but the caffeine is starting to make me buzzy. It doesn’t taste like it’s supposed to anyway, so I’ll just leave it here. Maybe one day someone will come along and give this one a proper review.
