From The Tea Emporium

This delicate white tea from the Fujian region in China is blended with soft rose petals. White teas are amongst the rarest and most exotic teas. They are harvested in the spring season using only the best part of the tea plant – the two leaves and the bud. This tea brews a light liquor with a soft smooth taste finished with a touch of floral.

So I splurged and bought me some of this. I have SO many samples, and more on the way… but I’ve been thinking about this one for ages. I couldn’t help myself. I am weak!
This tea however, was not weak at all. It’s pretty much a simple white peony that’s been laced with rose petals. Unfortunately… The floral part is disappointingly mild, but adds a fascinating complexity. Of course, I do enjoy it more than the white peony I currently have in stock, but not the one I had before this current batch (too much roasting I think). I can only imagine how amazing it might be with a fresher leaf! mmmmm
Maybe next time I’ll let it cool more… as that tends to tease out the subtle notes.

Lovely light white tea, with a mild hint of rose. It’s quite subtle but very beautiful. I usually can’t stand rose flavoured anything, but this tea is quite enjoyable because it is so mild. If you wanted to, you could toss in a few rose buds to make the rose flavour more intense.

This tea is perfect naked, without sugar or sweetener. It’s good for a second steeping if you are in the mood for a standard white tea, since most of the rose aroma will have faded.
