“I got this as a free sample with my order and was quite surprised how much punch it had. The flavor has a perfect level of strength, which is a nice contrast to all the sweet light 2017s right now....” Read full tasting note
“At first very spicy and nutty, which turns to a slightly bitter floral note. Somewhat astringent and very fresh. Images and more at https://puerh.blog/teanotes/2017-nancai-ancient-eot” Read full tasting note
We bought some wild tea from this village last year, but their ancient cultivated trees had already been booked by another buyer. This year though, we were more prepared & happy to be able to buy this tea.
The trees are very old and growing naturally. The environment is also good and quite remote.
This tea is strong and powerful. There’s a healthy bitterness, thickness and good qi. To criticise it, there’s some slight astringency in later steeps, but I’d expect this to smooth and mellow with time. This is a very nice ancient tree tea from an area that still has reasonable prices and should perform well in the long run.
