This rare varietal was hybridized in 2000 and produced its first crop in 2003 on Tung Ting in Taiwan. Since 2003, we have had amazing harvests of this summer oolong tea. Royal Courtesan has an intense dark, spicy perfume with a textured, nutty, floral taste. There are no additives to this tea to enhance the fragrance. Royal Courtesan is the title given in times past to the secondary wives of the emperor who were known for their beauty and grace. Recommended for lovers of High Mountain Dark and Tieguanyin Dark Roast (Monkey Picked). This tea is imported to the United States exclusively by Teance.
