From Tealyra

Nepal Golden Meadow is a 2nd flush Nepali black tea. It provides a lovely tea experience similar to a Darjeeling with a balanced and fresh flavor. Our fine Golden Meadow tea grew alongside the breath-taking mountainous regions of Nepal at an altitude ranging from 3,000 – 7,000 feet above the sea level.

Once steeped, the amber-hued liquor is bright and aromatic. At first sip, the flavor offers a voluptuous note of malt, burnt caramel and hay. This lively brew can be appreciated for its smooth sweet flavors; multiple steeps bring out different elements- whether it’s the first steep-bold, malty, deep, or the second and third which bring out the light fresh taste and sweetness in the leaf.

Eelong sent a sample of this my way, and this morning, it’s a perfect antidote for the glooms outside.

Steeped it in my ToastTea thermos, and managed to retain enough self control not to break into it until I had arrived at work (yep, still here; part of a skeleton crew keeping the lights on). It was so-o-o-o worth the wait! One light, golden-brown cup of sweet clover and hay, and I was able to coax a viable second steep out of it. Extremely drinkable and pleasurable.

So glad you liked this one! It’s one of my personal favorites, such an easygoing cup. :) Can’t get to the inbox again, but I just got your package in the mail and I’m so excited to try everything! Thanks for the generous selection. <3

Dry, this smells like honey and something I have trouble placing. It smells like opening something old, if that makes sense. Disturbed fibers and revealed wood. Steaming, the familiar scent of black tea is the main perfume. I have got to remark on the color: it’s peach. Beautiful; I have a small carnelian that’s the same color as this. It’s pretty enough to watch the cup cool. As for the taste, this is a mild black tea. The flavor is full bodied, but not assertive or chewy. It’s slightly earthy, but mellowed by the honey note that remains mostly in the steam but in the liquor too. The aftertaste is very pleasant, mostly honey, not tannic at all. A nice smooth, sweet tea I enjoyed on a snowy afternoon.

Bought 50g of this for $11 to widen my horizons when it comes to black tea. The liquor is a delightful peachy dark brown, and the aroma is toasty with notes of freshly dried orchard hay. Not a tannic tea by any means, it goes down exceptionally smooth with a dark malty finish. The aftertaste doesn’t linger and I found my cup to be empty before it turned lukewarm, which is a rarity for any tea. I can’t say that it’s the best black I’ve ever had, but it’s likely the smoothest. Very pleasant to sip on a lazy winter afternoon.
