Osmanthus Oolong Tea

Osmanthus Oolong Tea is produced by scenting Oolong tea with fresh Osmanthus flowers. Combining the sweet osmanthus fragrance with the fruity Oolong tea is a marvelous invention. The recipe of Osmanthus Oolong tea has been around for a long time. Osmanthus Oolong tea is also known as Orchid Oolong.

Other names:
Gui Hua Oolong

Taste:
Lovely sweet and pleasant aroma of Osmanthus flower. The tea is refreshingly light and has a hint of peachy flavor.

Appearance:
Golden yellow Osmanthus flowers mixed in with the Oolong tea leaves.

Origin:
Taiwan

Harvest Period:
2010

Brewing Guide:
We recommend using purple clay or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Fill the teapot 2 grams (1-2 teaspoons) tea leaves for every 225ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 95°c (203°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.

My first issue with this tea company was that instead of listing the contents as tea (as required for customs as this arrived from Malaysia), they listed that I had purchased several different types of incense.

This tea smells like perfume, and for good reason; it tastes like it, too. The details say that this oolong has yellow osmanthus buds in it as well, but there were none in the tea I received. 195/3 min. Ooh. I can smell the floral perfume from here. When I taste it, it is so perfumed that it actually pricks my tongue. I cannot taste the oolong tea at all. The scent of the tea has permeated all of my senses. At least I can no longer smell the pancakes I burned this morning.

I love Osmanthus! I won’t order this one though :(

QuiltGuppy

Me, too. This one was a huge disappointment!

Angrboda

Oh, customs fiddling. :/ I got an order shipped from China once containing some $70 worth and on the customs form it said ‘$10 – Card’. I’m surprised the danish customs authorities didn’t open it. They must have been able to tell that a box doesn’t contain only a card. It did make me feel a bit iffy, though, and it took a while before I felt comfortable about shopping there again. They haven’t done it since, so I’m back to business as usual.

QuiltGuppy

It seems to me to be just too shady. I wish that customs would have opened it. Now, I’m not as interested in trying the two other teas I ordered from them.

burned pancakes, bah!
