Pouchong is a very lightly fermented tea somewhere between green tea and ooling tea, but usually considered oolong tea. This is one of the most popular tea in Taiwan and is mainly produced in Pinglin near Taipei, Taiwan. Pouchong Oolong are usually grown in areas with latitude four hundred feet or higher, tea leaves usually grow very slowly in such altitude, which produced a richer and more complex flavors.
Its name in Chinese, literally “the wrapped kind”, refers to a practice of wrapping the leaves in paper in packaging. At its best, Pouchong gives off a beautiful floral and melpn fragrance and has a rich and thick, mild taste. This tea has find reputatable names of “the morning dew fragrance” or “the spring mist”. These llightly fermented teas can benefit digestion.
