SFTGFOP-1, lot no. NL-06/25
As every year, at the end of winter, our colleagues from the Blue Mountains in South India send us their premium winter harvest. This is an exceptionally nicely processed leaf from the winter harvest (this year the teas were harvested earlier than usual, in mid-January, and their quality is excellent this year). This is a lighter processing style similar to Darjeeling teas, but with a typical Nilgiri character, i.e. a fine tea with slightly honeyed and interesting, more pronounced tones of fruit (tropical fruit, citrus) and flowers (jasmine) in the aroma and a long aftertaste. The Kairbetta garden is located in the Blue Mountains in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu at an altitude of around 2000 m above sea level and is certified by the Rain Forest Alliance, which ensures more gentle practices with a minimum of agricultural chemicals. It is beautiful to watch how the quality of its “frost teas” improves every year.
Harvest time: early January 2025
Area: Kotagiri, Nilgiri Mountains
