In the spring of 2017, a colleague and I wandered through the mountain gardens of Kyushu Island and discovered beautiful gardens within sight of the active Aso volcano, where tea has been grown organically for almost 40 years without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Here, so-called artisanal teas are also produced in small quantities, which are very rare even in Japan. Our tea was made from a rare cultivar in an amount of 5 kg and after pouring its slightly oxidized and loosely rolled leaves, you will be surprised by its charming, distinctly floral aroma and balanced, light, full, long-lasting sweet taste. Highly recommended.
