This winter’s Lot 871 will please all Fushoushan aficionados and has the potential of gaining more followers! Despite the bright character of a just produced tea we see great potential in this winter’s offering. The tea shows the stamina of a spring tea with a lot of material to offer. Yet, there are no un-balanced spikes as this tea ramps-up to a generous and smooth crescendo of sweet Osmanthus and melon-like texture. All of the characteristic Fushoushan taste and aroma is there in one of the most harmonious balance we’ve experienced in a long time. A delight that must be experienced. Fushoushan Tea is very highly regarded in Taiwan as it is one of the only controlled Trade Mark in the world of Taiwan Tea. The term refers to a government owned farm that used to be part of Chang Kai Shek’s Summer Domain at the top of the Lishan Range (over 2300 m). Back in the 1970’s, tea plantations were introduced on the farm and then proliferated to the other lower regions of the range. Today, tea that is produced at the farm is sold in sealed and numbered tins and fetch a very high price on the market. Our Fushoushan Oolong comes from a garden alongside the government farm and bears the characteristic clean, fresh, exuberantly floral aroma of Lishan teas. With a rich, full body that is very heady and persistent in the mouth and throat. And what generosity! Fushoushan Oolong is quite rightly known for its stamina in giving pot after pot of satisfying infusion from the same leaves.
