From Taiwan Sourcing

Cui Yu is the hard effort which was invented by the godfather of modern Taiwanese tea Mr. Wu who passed away in 2000. It was named after Mr. Wu’s grandmother as a commemoration. It is designed as a perfect specimen for heavily oxidized tea such as this robust oolong. As a result, our Robust (roasted) Cui Yu oolong is thick, fruity and sweet with a floral after-taste! But in order to give it more complexity some Si Ji Chun was also blended into it to create a more long lasting aroma. This is a good choice if you are looking for a medium roast level organic oolong to enjoy!

We are proud to offer this classic Taiwanese hand crafted oolong along with her other two sisters as part of our new line of Taiwanese teas. Enjoy!

Spring 2017 harvest. I really love the look and colors of these leaves. It has a nice spiced herb aroma that permeates from the leaves, and a – what I’ve come to understand, but unable to put it into words, other than to say – classic Taiwanese tea character. It took awhile to get the parameters right, but once I did, I had a great experience: raw, pollen heavy, honey; sweet, with a thick mouthfeel; slightly floral at the base with notes of fruit.

Cold brewed this tea. I let it sit too long so it’s overbrewed. Still I think I like this one better cold. The notes are a little muted. Not sure what to call them. It is relatively good even though I let the leaves sit too long.

Cold brewed this one in the fridge for around 24 hours with 4 tsp leaf and in a 32oz Lupica Handy Cooler.

Iced 4 tsp 32 OZ / 946 ML

I don’t know whether I got a bad batch of this, but this tea fell totally flat for me. It had none of the typical Taiwan oolong aroma, or flavor for that matter. The leaves looked fine, but it tasted extremely bland.
