Melissa, as it is also known, delights the nose with its citrusy smell. It’s flavour has an added layer of subtle sweetness which makes it go beautifully with fish dishes. Lean back, relax and enjoy. Melissa is Latin for honeybee. This is not a coincidence, because Melissa was once planted as a pasture for bees. Charles the Great ordered the cultivation of Melissa in monastic gardens, from which developed “Melissengeist”, a tonic made of natural herbs.
