Description

Origin: Sencha and dried yuzu rind produced and blended in Japan.

Flavor Profile: Classic Japanese flavors of sencha and yuzu are enticingly fresh and clean. Smooth grassiness and sweet citrus notes dominate.

Tea Story: Yuzu Sencha is a blend of sencha (the most popular type of tea in Japan) and yuzu fruit (a similarly popular Japanese citrus fruit). The abundant dry aroma has notes of cracked white pepper, fresh-cut citrus fruit, dried cherries and dried, cracked wheat.

The full brewed aroma is kelpy, with incredible yuzu sweetness. Hints of roasted asparagus, umami and grasses echo its near-neon-chartreuse color. The taste is clean and sweet, with yuzu juiciness. Flavors of steamed lemon asparagus and kelp are followed by steamed spinach’s clean, green taste. The light-bodied brew is followed by clean aftertastes of pepper, umami and yuzu that last several minutes.

Samovarian Poetry: Juicy, citrusy and grassy – the perfect taste of summer.

Food Pairings: Yuzu Sencha is best paired with simple, clean flavors, such as unagi maki, hake poached in fish broth with carrots, warm, crusty, grainy wheat bread (without butter), chilled, sliced stonefruit, lychee sorbet or fresh strawberries. It’s also delicious with a salad of Jerusalem artichokes, endive, sliced blood oranges, baby arugula and lemon vinaigrette.
