From RiverTea

It’s time to get out your best china set and call your most fashionable friends over for a spot of tea! You’re going to be charmed by a blend that was inspired by high fashion and a love of tea. The merging of these two haute hobbies began at The Berkeley Hotel in London where socialites gathered for an extravagant midday tea session. Traditional pret a portea involves the pairing of highly detailed pastries and cakes that are inspired by fashion details and are served along the side of a favorite tea. This elegant brew has a dulcet rooibos base and infuses a juicy array of lush cherries, strawberries and raspberries and sour orange peels that master the art of mouth-watering, while pink peppercorn dazzles you with a discreet peppery touch. It’s time to give your afternoon tea time a little bit of the glamorous pret a portea treatment with this stylishly rooibos blend!

Ingredients: Rooibos Tea, Hibiscus blossoms, Natural flavourings, Orange peels, Raspberry bits, Strawberry bits, Pink pepper kernels, Cornflower blossoms

Backlog continues…

Tuesday evening, but I let it get cold before drinking it. Surprisingly, it still tasted relatively good: I wouldn’t have really thought about drinking cold. Also, it was extra peppery in the aftertaste. I think that’s because I’m nearing the end of the sample back and now it’s inevitable that all the peppercorns I was avoiding getting too much of (I don’t mind them, but don’t want a ton) are sitting there waiting for me.

Someone keeps talking about this and making it sound good, and I just realized it’s you! But I’ll have to snag a sample of this I think for my next order. That order which will probably be failry soon as I’m going through my Mulberry White like nobody’s business.

I think I maybe have 25g of it left? I have 50g of this on the way ;) And who else would it be? :P

I think I was going to ask to try this and then saw hibiscus and decided against it. Curse you hibiscus!!

sample sipdown! I know Roswell Strange will be happy that someone else is joining her tasting notes on this one. The other half of this sample will be off to Cavocorax as well so that she can try it out.

I have to say that on the whole i am really enjoying River Teas. I think they have a good thing going here, and their service and packaging are excellent. So far, their teas are falling on the upper average side for me, which means that they will likely find themselves in and out of my cupboard :) None of the teas that i’ve tried yet from them have been BAD, which is great in my books :)

This tea? Well i have to say that i was intrigued by the peppercorns in this blend. It’s not often you see that in a rooibos blend. This tea needs more cherry! I brewed this for about 5 mins, which brought out the hibiscus and rooibos taste a little much. I think 4 mins would be the sweet spot here. Because there seems to be so much going on in some of the blends from RiverTea, i think that it might be tough to get everything in to the sample sizes in the right quantity. I’d be interested in trying a normal order of this one out in the future. overall though, i think this one shows promise :) it’s cherry and tart and tasty.

Meh. It’s not my favourite RiverTea tea, but I like enough of them that it doesn’t matter. I’m happy I tried it, but their fruiter blends are better. MOAR FRUIT.

Thanks Sil!

Sipdown!! (211)

Thank you Roswell Strange for the sample of this tea. It is certainly a pleasant cup, one I would not turn down, however I don’t know if I would want to commit to 50 g of it as there are other teas I would reach for first.

Nonetheless, sipping on it now, I am enjoying the flavor of red fruits. I don’t know if I would say “cherry” per se but it is definitely in the ball park. Plus, I am pretty impressed that a cherry rooibos manages to completely avoid tasting like cough syrup or medicine – a feat not easily achieved it seems.
