From PureAromaTea

Lemon flavoured tea is a sharp, pleasantly sweet, naturally flavoured blend of fine China Congou black tea and chunks of deeply aromatic lemon peel. Delicious at any time of day, it is especially suitable for drinking with a mid-morning snack to brighten up a rainy day at the office!
Fresh, invigorating, and full of cheerfulness and fun, our lemon-flavoured tea is just the thing to energise and revive. Best drunk without milk. China Congou is a naturally sweet, full-flavoured black tea with rich, complex flavour. The large, wiry leaf is visually attractive and has a rich, sweet aroma when dry. It brews to produce a golden, coppery liquor in the cup. It has good colour, strength and brightness, and a distinct floral fragrance.

To brew, put one rounded tsp of Lemon Tea per person in a pot or Mug Infuser. Add fresh, boiling water. Brew for 3 mins and serve without milk. Ingredients: Black China Congou tea, Lemon Peels, Natural Lemon flavouring.

SIPDOWN!

I tried the last of this sample as a cold brew to see how it fared. Bumping up the rating slighty as a result. What i like about this is that it’s clearly a black tea brewed cold, but it’s not bitter or astringent, and the lemon adds just a touch of interesting to make it a good cold brew. I’d have to add a bit of sweetner to get my other half interested but i think this should be a nice one over summer when looking for something that’s not overly fruity or sweet. just refreshing!

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

I didn’t try this one, first or second order, but will have to remember next time. Even if iced teas aren’t something I have to make, given the typical Irish summer (!), that does sound lovely.

Sil

I’m really enjoying how smooth purearoma teas are….haven’t found any yet to be bitter or astringent at all

Hallieod

Me too. I mean me too to the enjoyment, and me neither to finding any bitter ones.

Today has been relaxing for the most part but I started with an active morning (of shopping) so my energy levels are now very lax. Pure Aroma Tea were kind enough to send me a sample of their lemon tea. Lemon is usually a morning tea to help wake me up but I am in dire need of energy right now.

The tea is Congou based and has that fabulous rich, malty and slightly floral scent which is masked behind the strong and sour but fresh lemon. Amongst the dark brown twisted Coungo leaves are a sprinkle of dried lemon peel pieces which have a pleasing contrast.

Once boiled my tea has a gentle lemon scent with a little floralness that resembles lemongrass rather than lemon peel.

In flavour the lemon (which still tastes like lemongrass rather than lemon peel) is quite mellow with no tartness and only a flash of sourness. The Congou is rich and floral with smoky malt tones which blend nicely with the lemon. Overall the strength is fair and would be suitable for people that do not like their tea too strong but can always be increased for those of us who prefer large flavours. It tastes fresh and of nice quality and is a little different than your basic lemon tea which is mainly due to the lemongrass factor. Still very tasty and a nice every day style lemon tea.

Mmmm this is so good! Hot, anyhow. I can see why Sil would like this cold. Liquid lemon drops!!! Yup. Quite tasty. Kindof like the cough candy ones though, which I actually like so it’s no problem for me. In fact, it’s a flavour I crave often but don’t really come across so high marks from me!
Next time I won’t add any sugar though, as the little bit I did add made things a tad syrupy, hence the cough drop.
Anyhow. I’m now stuck with “somewhere over the rainbow” in my head.
Silly lemon drops. I never did understand why they would melt. Are they supposed to melt??
Thanks for holding this Sil :)
