Heyyooo – tasting note 4800!
So, I ordered this one for myself knowing that I likely wouldn’t like it. I’ve never been a fan of lavender, and the idea of basically a straight lavender tea makes me cringe so badly. The challenge for myself was to push past my comfort zone and find a way to enjoy a tea that was completely contrary to my tastes.
So I brewed this one up hot and straight initially – I had to try it first before deciding what to do with it. It was definitely too intense/floral for my liking, and it reminded me of bath soap. However, it also gave me an idea!
With a bit of added coconut agave, this was the result:
- Very strong, natural lavender notes
- Had a nice freshness to it and a tropical flavour quality
- Resulted in what tasted like a superior/better quality version of DT’s Jessie’s Tea
- Really fresh and with the perfect amount of sweetness!
- It suddenly went from tasting like bath soap to a very serene, peaceful cuppa!
What a perfect fix to a tea I otherwise would NOT have enjoyed!
Dangit! You keep reviewing delicious-sounding Octavia teas! Were they doing a sample promo at some point? I’ve discovered that they have $3 samples on their site, just now….
I actually asked them for a sample of French Breakfast… and I never ask for samples unless a company is offering… and they sent me oodles of samples to review. I completely didn’t expect that and it was AWESOME of them. They don’t have many reviews on their site, so I’m posting both octaviatea.com and on Steepster. You can try passing them an e-mail, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind sending you samples.
I’ve made a cart, but shipping is $13 because Canada. Sadness. I wish they had a free shipping threshold for Canada, as I could easily be convinced to order more and hit it.
Ack, that is no good. I was going to say some of their teas are on Amazon but checking Canada, the prices seem ridiculous…
Hmm, maybe I’ll try emailing them! I wouldn’t expect free shipping on samples to Canada, but shipping would be a small amount to pay if the samples are free.
