“My first pot of the day :) I feel a little better this morning, a tad groggy but the headache has subsided somewhat. In raw form this tea has a sweet tangerine smell that reminds me of hard boiled...” Read full tasting note
Type: a China Mao Feng white tea with some silver tip, spiced with cinnamon bark, candied mango, citrus peels, tangerine flavour, vanilla flavour, liquorice root and sunflower petals.
For tasting 2.8 grams of tea was steeped in 140ml water at 80⁰C for five minutes.
Leaf: a colourful mix. The dry leaf has a very distinct clean tangy aroma of sweet tangerines.
Infusion – aroma: a distinctly sweet floral citrus aroma, light but strong and redolent of sponge cake
Liquor – visual: clear pale apricot colour
Liquor – taste: distinctly sweet with a hint of bitter from the citrus peels. Resteeped with less tea (2 grams) gives a better balance for bitterness, with sweet tangerine coming through well and still the hint of moist drizzle cake.
Summary: a great flavoured tea for the sweet toothed – and no need to add extra sugar.
