Description

Calendula, also called as ‘Pot Marigold’, is a yellow or orange colored flower commonly found in northern Mediterranean countries. This herb is usually used in households as a coloring and flavoring agent for foods as rice, cereals and soups. However, the Calendula tea made from the petals of the Calendula flower has been brewed as a natural medicine for thousands of years. As with most of the herbal teas, the Calendula tea also has a number of health benefits. To prepare the tea, dried marigold flowers are steeped in hot water (usually 90 to 95 degrees Celsius after cooling from a boil) in either a teapot, cup, or glass; often rock sugar is also added. The resulting drink is transparent and ranges from pale to bright yellow in color, with a floral aroma.
