“A delicious tea. The dry leaves smell like dark chocolate, and this gets even stronger after heating them. Tastes like cocoa and wood, with fruity undertones and a little astringency.” Read full tasting note
While searching for teas late last year (2018) we came across a farm that met our standards for cleanliness and quality. In passing conversation we asked if they had any aged teas and to our pleasant surprise we were offered this tea. Produced sometime in the late 1990s, this Baozhong had been sitting in the storeroom for 20 years, picking up the tastes and smells of the mountain. With a flavor profile closer to the rich forest floor of a ripe puer, this gentle tea is a fun one to try to see if you like the taste of Aged Oolongs before you take the plunge to more expensive teas.
