This is an exceptionally well made black tea from Gao Xian county, in southwestern Sichuan province, China. Sichuan black tea is one of the three major gongfu black tea producing regions in China, along with Keemen black and Yunnan Dian Hong. There are many organic tea gardens in the mountains of Luo Chang town at an altitude of about 1000 meters in Gao Xian county. This tea has a romantic name Gui Fei means concubine, Hong means red. “Hong Cha” or Red Tea in Chinese refers to the reddish color of the infusions, though these teas are broadly referred to as black teas in the west. This tea is hand-picked from fine tender leaves in early March and carefully crafted. The picking standard is one bud, two leaves. The process of withering, rolling, and firing requires special skills and great care, thus produced the very fine, golden tippy, and tightly twisted dry leaves and yield an amazing cup
