Description

Oriental Beauty is a unique type of Oolong, invented in Taiwan more than a hundred years ago. The tea leaves grow pesticide-free, and are naturally ravished by a particular insect, the Jassid, which typically takes 50% of the harvest. In exchange, the Jassid encourages the enzymic reaction which gives Oriental Beauty its character.

Making Oriental Beauty
This top grade Oriental Beauty comes from where it was originally invented, Miao Li, where the tradition of making this tea is strongest. This tea is from a Heritage Tea Farm which has won first prize in numerous official tea contests. It is hand plucked, and the old ladies who gather it in take only the classic one-bud-two-leaves set. This classic “tea set” is the premium part of the tea bush, the youngest part. In regular tea, it is the older tougher parts of the bush which are harvested.

Characteristics
Because Oriental Beauty consists of only the classic tea sets, this amber color tea liquor has an incredibly subtle mellow taste and aroma. At the moment you brew this lovely tea in your teapot, a delicate aroma of honey and citrus surrounds you, a romantic ambience of strolling in an orchard. In early 20th century, the tea was presented to Queen Elizabeth II, and it impressed her so much that she gave it its now celebrated name, Oriental Beauty.
