William was experimenting one day with new ideas for the Christmas season and decided to dip a whole apple into melted cinnamon heart candy. He put the display in his window and sold the first batch for 5 cents each. Soon after, the craze began! Candy apples can now be found all over the world at town fairs, the circus and confectionery shops.
