Another tea I didn’t know what I was getting into when I grabbed it. Couldn’t find it on the website either. Luckily there’s a discription here. I’m not a black tea fan, but I love all the flavors listed so I think I’m good to go.
The bag smells sooo good! The fruit is sweet, there are floral notes, and the ginger bites my nose. Speaking of that ginger- there’s only 1 piece but it’s huge. When I think of “petals”, I think rose… but I just see a couple tiny blue petals.
1 bag (3.71g!)/6oz just below boiling water. The liquor is a medium reddish brown- much lighter than I expected from the leaf/water ratio. The aroma is a bit muted from the raw leaf, but all 3 components are still there.
The flavor is lighter than I expected, but smooth. The passion fruit gives it a sweetness and the ginger isn’t over bearing. Very good.

Right from the bag, I can smell the strong mango and ginger. The brew is very fruity and perfumey. Overall, this is a decent tea in my books.
It’s a perfumey black with a hint of fruitiness- Lupicia says it’s passionfruit and papaya but it’s not distinct enough in the blend for me to be able to identify either one. I also don’t get the ginger- if it’s present at all, it’s very subtle.
This one is nostalgic for me, since I really miss living in Hawaii but there are better fruity black teas out there. Overall, a solid choice for a tropical-inspired black but don’t expect a dominant fruit flavour in this blend. It’s more a generic fruity black. I love passionfruit, so I was disappointed it wasn’t more prominent in this blend.

As far as the Lupicia Hawai’i teas go, this one is pretty good. I think Hoku probably edges it out as my favorite, but to be honest I don’t find any of them very compelling. I get that they want to feature Hawaiian fruits, but most of the flavors are just so generic that it’s a shame. For instance, I don’t think I would ever guess that this tea is supposed to be passion fruit flavored because it tastes so generically tropical. However, I think the addition of the ginger really helps set it apart from some of the other fruity teas in this collection.
Still, not a reorder for me.

That’s a bummer. I am still tempted by the cute tin marketing, i just wish they were a little more airtight.
I agree, the Hawaiian blend tins are so colorful and pretty! But in general their tins are super impractical, not very airtight like you said plus they lend themselves to being stacked and then you can’t see the labels… XD
So true!!! I did a lupicia binge for a bit till I realized how annoying the tins were
I still adore their teas, I just don’t usually buy the tins. :P

Another Hawaiian special from Lupicia. You can SMELL the fruit and the ginger and the dry leaf, but unfortunately that didn’t translate to the steeped liquor. I was hoping it would be a fruity spicy tea, but the taste is much more like a typical breakfast blend. At least there’s little to no astringency, and only a little dryness. It wouldn’t be a bad daily drinker for those into breakfast blends, if you’re into that kind of thing (I’m not, it’s not a thing I crave)… that is if you can get a hold of it.
