“This is the first bihakkōcha I’ve ever had. Its profile is, however, a mixture of quite similar ones. Its aroma lands somewhere between an Anxi and a Taiwan high mountain oolong. It is more creamy...” Read full tasting note
Harvest: May 2021
Producer: Miyazaki Akira, Miyazaki Sabō Tea Farm
Area: Gokase, Miyazaki
Cultivar: Minamisayaka
A unique Bihakkocha type tea, literally lightly oxidized tea. The cultivar Minamisayaka, loosely translated as “southern freshness”, is characterized by its fresh floral aroma and delicate milkiness. Originally intended for sencha teas, but for its character it is also used for kamairicha, bihakkocha and black teas.
The material for this tea comes from the gardens in the Gokase area of Miyazaki Prefecture, which have been run in organic mode since 1983, where they are engaged in the small production of unique craft teas.
After pouring, the tea has a strong floral aroma and a full, long-lasting aftertaste.
Produced in a quantity of 4kg.
We recommend 2-2.5g per 100ml, 90 degrees water and 20-40s for the first steep. We are slowly prolonging other infusions.
