“Not what I expected from the description but still delicious. I’m getting overwhelming goji fragrance, almost like a chinese herbal chicken soup” Read full tasting note
Category: Oolong
Origin: Taicheung, Taiwan
Harvest: Summer 2018
Grown at an elevation of 900 meters in the ethereal and misty mountains of Taiwan, the title of this tea translates directly to “honey fragrance”, this describes the naturally sweet characteristics of the tea. This natural sweetness occurs when a tiny green insect also known as Aphids. These tiny insect bites don’t leave visible holes on the leaves, but they do damage the plant. This results in the bitten spots to oxidize thus giving the leaves a honeyed aroma. However, this will also reduce the yield of harvest. After the leaves have been bitten, they must be harvested before any rain, of which the unique honeyed aroma will be lost.
What sets this tea apart from other Bug Bitten on the market is our farmer’s traditional craftsmanship. Even though this tea was picked in the Summer, the extended withering and bruising significantly increased this tea’s oxidation rate. This process preserves more flavor and aromatic flavor in the tea.
Tasting Notes: Thick mouthfeel with a refined honey sweetness
