Description

Tea – Old Tree Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2018
Origin – Tongmuguan (Ban Yan)

This tea comes the area of Tongmuguan, a small Unesco protected natural area in the high part of Wuyishan (above 1000 mt) where access is strictly controlled and some older shuixian trees exist. To be called Lao Cong in fact, a tree should have enough age to develop a clear “cong wei” or old tree flavor. While it is said that the tree age should be over 80 years old to develop this taste, we can’t be sure how old exactly trees are nor we care. what we care about is what can we taste from the cup.

Drinking this tea is a deep flavorful experience with calming “cong wei” 枞味 (old tree flavor) and smooth mouth feeling. It can be brewed many times and is especially good if simmered in a large pot (see brewing tips below).
