“Gongfu Sipdown (790)! Made this one in my massive (250 ml) yancha dedicated yixing pot earlier in the weekend. That’s a lower g/ml ratio that I typically go with so I was steeping for longer...” Read full tasting note
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2018
Origin – Xingcun, Wuyishan (Banyan)
—- at the moment pictures are of qilan 2017, it needs to be updated although is pretty similar—
Qi Lan is a cultivar with many fans. The unique fragrance of this tea makes it hard to forget among other yancha.
It is a good choice for those looking for a fragrant tea or a yancha with a unique character. After being roasted the characteristic character and aromatics of qilan emerge from the roasted notes of this tea.
This qilan has been roasted two times. Compared to the “fragrance” version we offered in 2017 this doesn’t have such strong fragrance trading it for a more smooth mouth feeling and stronger roast flavor. However the unique frgrance of this cultivar is still present in the aftertaste and balanced with warmer charcoal notes. This tea could be an interesting drinking experience for those who are new to yancha due to its unique fragrance which makes it easier to recognize or for those who already know they like qilan or are looking for a unique fragrance in their tea.
If you enjoyed last year qilan fragrance and are looking for an unroasted or style tea with powerful fragrance we recommend to try our Jinmudan 2018.
