Our 2019 Sunlit Forest Shou Mei uses tea leaves that were grown on a 30 year old wild tea plantation (600-800 meters high) in Guan Yang County, Fuding City, China. This is the same plantation that produced the 2017 Wild Garden. We particularly like the huge twigs and leaves that were picked and pressed into these tea cakes in the spring of 2019.
Don’t be intimidated by the size of the tea leaves in this cake, this shou mei white tea is surprisingly delicate and approachable! Because it was produced recently, the profile of this tea is more fresh and mild tasting than an aged white tea like our 2016 Shou Mei. Both the aroma and flavor of this tea are buttery, sweetly floral, and bit vegetal. Our 2019 Sunlit Forest Shou Mei cake is easy to drink and interesting to compare with older shou mei tea.
