Named for the gateway to Mt Everest, our Khumbu tea from Nepal will leave you breathless! We are excited to be offering a fine black tea from Nepal! Not as well known as its’ Chinese and Indian tea producing powerhouse neighbors, Nepal sits in the middle of prime tea growing terrain. This beautiful black tea could easily disguise itself as an oolong. The leaves are lighter brown than traditional black teas from other regions. There is also a dash of green and golden leaf mixed into a single scoop. The leaves are largely rolled with a sweet, floral aroma. The mouth feel presents honey with a touch of caramel and the liquor brews up amber.
Khumbu is a product of Sandakphu (Pronounced: San-dak-phu), a tea factory majority-owned by the very tea farmers that grow these leaves and is run by a knowledgable and driven female. Located in the Ilam region of Nepal, the teas produced at Sandakphu are organically grown using neither pesticides not harmful fertilizers.
