One of the most characteristic Chinese white tea, known as the white peony. When brewed using our steeping suggestions, first infusion reveals surprisingly fresh cucumber notes with no bitterness and semi-sweetness. Second and third shows that we’re having a white tea with developing creamy-floral notes. We did our best to make this product a great value tea.

I am playing Resonance Of Fate (RPG on Xbox360) and thought I would brew a small teapot of this wonderful tea for two. :)

It’s still as sweet and light as I remember. Lovely.

I had this last night (backlog?) at my sister’s and ended up giving the rest to her. This may be one of the more upfront and consistent white teas to stumble my way. The liquor tends towards a golden-like brightness, although, after I left it in the glass pot for a while it turned reddish and reminded me of a light black. This will hopefully be a good introductory white for my predominantly black tea drinking sister.

I used 1.5 tablespoons for 375 ml of water.

Detecting a licorice-like sweetness that tingles my tongue into the aftertaste. Pleasant swampy-vegetal taste that may be a little strong. I am strongly reminded of the scent of alfalfa hay. Very mild astringency. No bitterness. Sweet throughout. Slightly buttery. Overall refreshing flavour. Lemon notes present, reminding me of the taste of a freshly squeezed lemon in water.

Second infusion at 5 minutes. Flavours from first infusion are still present but softer. Smooth and buttery quality. Softer sweetness throughout.

Third infusion at 7 minutes tastes very similar to the first infusion. More vegetal-tasting.

It’s just that quality of white/green tea that I have come to love (and sometimes crave). I was quite pleased with the overall flavour and really surprised at the lemony taste- that is not something that I think I have ever experienced in a non-flavoured tea.

Thanks Raritea for this sample :) Another straight tea I really wanted to try since I’ve had a few flavoured blends with bai mudan. This is a really nice tea, though i much prefer it as a base tea in a blend. This isn’t too vegetal, which is really nice. it’s also a delicate tea that is quite refreshing.

As the leaf appears somewhat broken up I really can’t point fingers since I’m familiar with brittle nature of Bai Mu Dan. With the usual hues of green and brown that White Peony bears I can detect only few white tips.

The infusion is somewhat thick with subtle and almost faint notes of butter, sweet sap and hay on hot summer day. Although it’s a pleasing cup to me it misses some richness and complexity to make it a keeper.
On the other hand, price seems really fair, so my guess is that it could fit in for a gulper tea, hot or iced/cold brewed, so I might turn around when the summer comes. If I ever decide to experiment with tea flavoring I’ll use this one as a base for sure.

Didn’t really know what to drink this evening so i’m going to try out a new tea for me! Infussion was so kind to send me a few off there samples… so i’m so kind to make a review!

Bai Mudan, white peony upon opening the sample i’m seeing alot off brown and greenish leaves with here and there a bud. I’m taking one teaspoon full off leaves for my cup and i’m brewing it for 3min with 70°c water…

The color off the tea looks a bit darker then silver needles, it looks very appealing. After it cooled down a bit i’m sipping the cup and i’m tasting a tea thats a bit more robust then i’m used to in a white tea, but i’m liking the taste!

overall a good white tea, gonna try a second and third cup from the same leafs aswel, will add that in a other tasting note tomorrow or so…

I managed to completely botch my first cup of this under the impression that white tea needed a longer steep than average. Naturally the result was quite disappointing. Fortunately after looking at the other reviews I made a second cup with a much shorter steep time and can fairly review this tea.

It’s a pretty decent bai mudan. The mouthfeel is quite smooth and buttery. The taste is more vegetal for me than floral, but my mouth might be a bit too conditioned to floral teas that have actual flowers in them. There is a slight honey taste at the very end of the sip. Not bad by any means, but I definitely prefer Infussion’s Sencha to this.
