This Taiwanese oolong is a sweet, floral and slightly spicy blend that delights all the senses.
Let’s start with the sense of sight: dark, spruce-green, rolled and twisted oolong leaves meet tiny pink rose buds and ridged lemongrass stalks. Then, aroma: bright notes of lemon in the dry blend give way to rich, floral scents, which become prominent as you infuse the blend. Both hint at what’s to come… Now, taste: floral notes balance with the creamy flavor of the oolong for a truly decadent tea experience, while lemongrass and ginger add piquancy to the finish. And touch: a buttery mouthfeel (Thanks, oolong!) is enriched with zing from lemongrass and a hint of fire from ginger.
A touch of sugar or honey elevates the lemon and rose notes of this blend, and rounds out its natural sweetness.
This pretty, festive tea pairs nicely with a chocolate truffle or fruit tart.
Many oolongs are enjoyable to watch as they steep and unfurl. This one is especially rewarding because of the variety of colors and textures in the tea leaves, rosebuds and lemongrass. A glass teapot and clear glass infuser are excellent for viewing the tea as it expands.
