Story:
This is from the same farmer and same general area as Lala Shan Hong Shui, just a different peak (higher, actually) called Taman Shan. It is processed at the same farm as the Lalashan, too. That is, it is from our farmer friend Mr Zhen, who loves good tea, coffee and food. I like to call him Taiwanese Santa Claus because he is always jolly, has a big beard and is a rotund gentleman. When he first started growing tea on his high mountain property about 10 years ago, he simply planted the tea and let it grow. He had no idea about pesticides or fertilizer. Then when he read about farming in a book, he came across a chapter on ‘organic’ farming, and thought it sounded good to just keep doing things that way. “The bugs get to eat their fill, and then we get the rest.”
This crop was lightly roasted by our friend Mr Huang, who said it is the best GABA Hongshui he has ever come across.
This tea hits so many points, its almost funny! GABA, Hong Shui, High Mountain, Organic. But what we really care about is that it comes together to make an excellent tea. It’s one of our favorites.
Description:
The scent is like brown sugar with more fruity notes showing up as it evaporates off the bottom of the cup or gaiwan lid. The scent is clear and penetrating, rising straight from the nose to the top of the head. In the body, this tea is very calming. When Shiuwen first bought this tea for her personal supply, Zhan said he liked its effect of calming the lower abdomen. But as it calms the body, the sheer bigness of the tea is stimulating to the mind. It has a bigness that calmly reaches deeply into the body, like slow growing roots of an old tree.
This tea is soft, gentle and calming. It perfectly represents the serene natural environment it grew up in.
