The hanging of the greens and the holly wreath are traditions that stretch back into antiquity. The Romans thought holly was sacred to Saturn, so they gave one another wreaths and carried holly in procession during the celebration of Saturnalia, as well as at the calends of January. The early Christians, whose worship was forbidden in Rome, also decked their homes with holly to avoid notice. Holly eventually became a symbol of Christmas and came to stand for peace and joy. Our Christmas Mint tea is a sprightly winter blend of China black tea, hibiscus, and peppermint. Cheerful and welcoming, it’s the perfect way to share the joy and peace of the season.
